Biography
Gearóid Farrelly’s comedy career got off to a flying start in 2008, when in the space of a few short weeks he was a finalist in the prestigious “So You Think You’re Funny?” competition at the Edinburgh Festival and winner of Bulmers Nuthin Butt Funny Newcomer competition at the Bulmers festival in Dublin. Since then he is fast on his way to becoming a household name.

A polished live performer, he is a regular at Irish comedy festivals and has completed national tours with PJ Gallagher, Neil Delamere and Maeve Higgins. He has also supported Tommy Tiernan, Jason Byrne and Rich Hall in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre. Recently Sarah Millican asked him to support her for some dates on her recent UK tour. His stand-up appearances for television include “Stand & Deliver”, “Tonight With Craig Doyle” and as a guest of Ardal O’Hanlon for Dave’s “One Night Stand”. In 2012 he made his solo debut at the Edinburgh Festival with his show “Turbulence” winning a five star review in the process (read it here).

He was then invited to support comedy royalty and living legend Joan Rivers for the Dublin dates of her “Now or Never” tour, following these dates Joan Rivers once again asked him to open for her at one of the largest venues on her UK tour, which was filmed for her reality show.

On TV Gearóid is probably best known for playing Pat the conjoined-twin of Gerry (PJ Gallagher) in “Meet Your Neighbours” (RTE). He was also a regular on “The Panel”. He has also notched up appearances in “The Savage Eye”, “Maeve Higgins Fancy Vittles”, “Ireland’s Top 30 TV Moments”, “The Lucy Kennedy Show” and “The Blame Game” on BBC1.

On radio he had a weekly comedy slot on“Breakfast with Bernard and Keith” on iRadio and following that a similar slot on “The Morning Crew” for 98FM. He has also filled in as guest host for both stations and was a regular contributor to “The Colm Hayes” show on 2FM where he also provided an alternative Royal Wedding commentary for the wedding of William and Kate.

In addition to writing and acting in “Meet Your Neighbours”, Gearóid has also contributed to numerous shows and pilots for TV and Radio. A full list of TV and Radio credits can be found here.

Gearóid is also an experienced voiceover artist. His voice-reel can be downloaded here.
